Walking the Talk
With the fourth and final volume of the series now published, RogueArt have been on the road with Narratives in Malaysian Art, collaborating with educational institutions, art spaces and collectives around the country for a programme of discussions, Walking the Talk.
NMA has always been about gathering knowledge and building discourse, and with so much happening in the art scene over the past decade since the project first began, especially beyond the Klang Valley "hub", it has been interesting to see what kinds of further conversations might arise to do with histories, practices and infrastructures. New generations of practitioners and students, moving in a much changed art world, have voiced both fresh and familiar questions.
We've been very grateful for the support and enthusiasm of all those involved to date, in KL, Ipoh, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. Walking the Talk goes to Hin Bus Depot in George Town next, on 14 Jan 2020, for a discussion on "Missing Links: Piecing Together a Penang Art Scene" in collaboration with School of the Arts, Universiti Sains Malaysia and Ruang Kongsi; and conversations at Ilham Gallery and UiTM Shah Alam are also in the pipeline.
We are currently working on uploading the footage of each discussion session on YouTube, so do watch this space....
